The Issue

There's a heart-wrenching story unfolding right here in our community where an 82-year-old RAF veteran is facing eviction from his cherished home. After serving our country with bravery and dedication, he deserves peace and stability, not the uncertainty and distress of eviction due to a planning enforcement notice.

This veteran has called his current residence home for a few years after being told that he needed to stop travelling due to his health. It's not just a property to him, it's a place that is small enough to get around without a struggle, within a community of friends who help him and his 72 year old wife. Evicting him over technicalities in planning regulations is not just unfair - it undermines the values of respect and gratitude we owe to those who've served.

The local council has the authority to decide whether enforcing this notice is truly in the public interest. It's time for the public to stand up and make it clear that we do not support this eviction. Can we really say it benefits our community to displace an elderly veteran and his elderly wife? We have the power to show the council what the public interest really is.

This is more than just about stopping an eviction; it’s about standing together to uphold the rights and dignity of an aging veteran.

We urge the council to reconsider and halt the eviction process. Our veterans deserve our support and respect — and this starts with allowing them to live peacefully without eviction hanging over them.

Let's stand together to keep our country’s promise to those who served: to honor and support them. Sign this petition to show that you value the sacrifices made by our veterans and believe they should not face eviction in their twilight years. Your voice can make a difference.
