In Allen ISD, electives count towards your GPA. This causes many kids taking advanced classes that they don't enjoy. This adds stress for kids to choose the higher level classes instead of exploring and taking classes they enjoy. Many student-athletes, including me, are forced to make a choice to do your sport or to try and be in the top 10, but not able to play your sport anymore. Taking the classes that you find enjoyable will cost you your GPA, not allowing you to explore your options and instead being confined with your choices. If this isn't changed, students won't be able to take the classes they want and instead they are forced to take higher level classes in order to be high in the rankings. As we're coming upon the class of 2029 choosing their classes, they shouldn't have to worry about electives they enjoy tanking their GPA.
