Stop EB-Games & Zing Pop Culture from Monopolizing Local Game's Product Market

The issue

We are writing this petition as a representative of Irresistible Force, a local game store that has served the community for over eight years. Our store focuses on community building and providing valuable gaming experience rather than just selling products for profit. We provide a variety of tabletop games, paint & hobby supplies, Games Workshop products, and a myriad of TCGs. However, our ability to sustain such a service is under threat.

EB-Games and Zing Pop Culture stores are allegedly indulging in a form of monopolization that threatens not just our existence, but also that of other local game stores. Their actions include cracking product that is already hard for local game stores to acquire, and stocking singles products that are typically hard to access. This reduces the potential diversity of products in the market and stifles competition.

Monopolistic practices such as these discourage variety and innovation in our industry. It also has the potential to eliminate the small businesses that contribute to the character and spirit of local communities. Small businesses, such as ours, are the backbone of any thriving, dynamic community. They maintain diversity, inspire creativity, and foster community engagement.

We call for the enforcement of Minimum Suggested Retail Pricing (MSRP) regulations across all businesses and retail chains. This is essential to safeguard both consumers and small businesses from harmful practices like aggressive underselling, where large corporations drive prices down to levels that local game stores simply cannot compete with.

Additionally, we urge the separation of large retail chains from operating as "local game stores" or community play spaces. True local game stores invest in building real communities, supporting events, fostering player engagement, and creating a welcoming environment for hobbyists. When big-box retailers and corporate chains pose as local game stores, they exploit these spaces without reinvesting in the community, ultimately driving independent stores out of business.

Without action, independent game stores—the heart of our gaming communities—will continue to be pushed out by monopolistic corporate strategies. We demand strict monitoring of these corporate tactics and government intervention to ensure fair competition in the market.

We urge the relevant authorities to step in, to ensure the survival of local game stores. Protect our community and our cherished local businesses from being crushed under the weight of big corporate monopoly. Please support our cause by signing this petition.

Please Sign and Share to everyone if you agree. Please also do not feel pressured to support this petition for change financially unless you are 100% sure. If you do, Thankyou from all of us and many other Local Game Stores. We ask that you understand how big this has to become in order for something to actually happen, but if everyone joins together we can create real action.
