I have seen the current administration taking efforts to reduce government waste, yet a suggestion of a military parade to celebrate Donald Trump’s 79th birthday threatens to undermine this progress. This seems like an unnecessary expenditure, taking valuable resources away from areas of our national budget where they are truly needed.

According to the Congressional Research Service, the cost of a military parade can range from $10 - $30 million, depending on the scale of the event. Nevertheless, this figure is substantial, considering the current state of our nation's economy and the continuous struggle to allocate adequate funding to important programs like education, health care, and infrastructure maintenance.

In an era of fiscal responsibility, we can't afford to misdirect taxpayer dollars towards such non-essential displays. I urge everyone to sign this petition to protest against such unnecessary spending. Ensure our tax dollars are used efficiently and effectively, benefiting the greater citizenry rather than commemorating one individual's birthday with such an ostentatious display.
