The ease at which prescription drugs are made available by heath care professionals puts many people in risk of substance abuse leading to dangerous addictions which, in many cases, may cause death.  Florida experienced a 48% increase in filled prescriptions between the years 2000 and 2009, mirroring an increase in drug related deaths, which nearly doubled in that time. Thousands of lives are lost every year. It is crucial that we take action to save the countless lives of our neighbors, family, and loved ones who may fall victim to the careless doctors who open the doors to drug abuse, addiction, and overdose.
