What would you think if you knew your child or you was being targeted everyday? Well this could be potentially happening!! Lets face it whether youre going through it right now or you already have, school can be difficult and (for most) is the time of insecurity and negative environment. Something that I and many others can agree on is dress code has something to do with that.

  Strict dresscodes arent always bad you know? Some rules need to be there, like you can’t go to school half naked or have something offensive on. But lets break it down, most of it is  just so odd when you think about it. This applys for boys somewhat but for girls it’s a whole other story. Girls might feel insecure or judged because they have to wear specific clothing that they might not feel comfortable in. Schools make a big point to not show skin they don’t go into detail why but I have a couple guesses. It could be because they sexualize kids and cover it up with “we need to protect them” or “its not professional attire. Which I get to a certain point but thats just not fair. Of course I can’t just point fingers why without really knowing but thats what I think.

  We should raise kids to be proud of themselves and be confident! so why are we making them feel insecure and over-sexualized by this dress-code. Remember you cannot show shoulders, most of your leg, midriff, cleavage and more. When stated like that it doesn't sound that bad but when shopping for clothes you're not comfortable it sure does feel like it. Their is already so much bullying that school doesn’t adress that making children insecure is normalized. Thats how bullying starts!! Not only people being pressured into breaking dresscode to be “cool” there are so many flaws in what we are alowed to wear. This is also not related to the previous topic but we live in a really hot place and start school in the summer. The temperature reaches high 90s and stays pretty hot throughout the year. They want us to wear pants throughout the whole year. They don’t say shorts arent allowed but make so many rules to them that its almost impossible as a girl to shop for shorts that long without rips and frays. Schools do better
