The Issue

I moved to The Adeline for peace, nature, and a place to breathe. The serene environment and the proximity to the pristine Gem Lake were primary factors in my decision to make this area my home. I do not pay for commercial development; I pay to enjoy the undisturbed wildlife and the natural beauty that defines our community. However, recent developments threaten to fundamentally disrupt this harmony.

A small strip of land near Boucle Jeanne Circle has been leased out to developers planning to construct a restaurant. This proposal risks disrupting the local wildlife, which thrives in this relatively untouched area. The sound of construction and the subsequent hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant will surely disturb the habitats of the birds, squirrels, and other wildlife that call this area home. The development could cause long-lasting harm to the biodiversity that enhances the beauty and serenity of our community.

Beyond ecological concerns, this development poses significant issues for residents. Increased traffic in the area is inevitable, putting a strain on our roads not designed to handle such volume. This surge in traffic also raises safety concerns, particularly for families with children who enjoy the freedom of bicycle rides and walks in the neighborhood. Additionally, the noise generated from a bustling restaurant is likely to be invasive, diminishing the quality of life for residents craving the tranquility they moved here to enjoy.

Moreover, commercial development in our neighborhood could adversely impact property values. Residential areas thrive on the appeal of being idyllic and peaceful. Once this balance is disrupted by commercial activities, it becomes less attractive to future homeowners, potentially driving property values down.

Our community is at a pivotal point where action is needed to conserve the essence of our neighborhood. We urge local authorities to reassess the planning permissions granted for this development. We need to protect the environmental integrity and residential serenity of Boucle Jeanne Circle.

Join me in standing up against this threat to our community's essence and the life we've chosen here. Sign this petition to let the authorities know that we cherish the tranquility, the nature, and the peace that our neighborhood symbolizes. Let us preserve our safe haven for future generations to enjoy.
