It’s been eerily quiet, awaiting any news out of Middletown in the meantime, we’ve been making contacts and building our coalition.
Middletown Township Committee just posted their agenda for the meeting tomorrow night. During this meeting, they will be officially naming AvalonBay Communities as the housing developer for the River Centre “redevelopment” (see p.49 of the agenda packet in the link).
There is only one opportunity for public comment, at the end of the meeting, but it could be an opportunity to ask questions about the housing and put them "on the record." Why move ahead with this designation? It's our understanding that the DEP has not approved the site for housing or issued any permits, so where are we in the process? It forces them to say things publicly and we can get information this way to stay ahead of things.
Please plan to attend if your schedule allows and ask the questions. This is YOUR opportunity for YOUR VOICE to be heard. We can’t stop the project if we don’t SHOW UP.
