The Issue

I love animals and it breaks my heart to see the needless killing of deer in our community of Farmington Hills, MI. These innocent creatures deserve to be treated with kindness and respect, not senselessly slaughtered. We must find humane solutions that protect the lives of these beautiful animals.

Our current practice of deer culling, often justified by overpopulation and potential safety hazards, does not reflect the compassionate values we hold in our community. Numerous studies have shown that non-lethal methods are both viable and effective in managing deer populations. For example, relocation programs have successfully been implemented in various parts of the country, where deer are humanely captured and released into more appropriate natural reserves.

It's critical we consider alternative solutions such as capture and relocation or sterilization programs. These methods are more reflective of our humane principles and can significantly benefit both the local ecosystem and community health. By adopting these practices, we preserve the natural balance without resorting to violence.

Let us champion a peaceful coexistence strategy, advocating for the capture, relocation, and habitat preservation of deer. This approach not only spares their lives but also enriches our community's moral standing and environmental responsibility.

Join me in calling on our local government and wildlife management authorities to cease deer culling activities immediately, and instead implement a non-lethal management plan. Sign this petition to promote humane treatment of our local deer populations.
