Stop Data Centers in Jones County, Georgia

Stop Data Centers in Jones County, Georgia
The Issue
Jones County’s natural beauty, forestland, agriculture, and quiet way of life are what make it special. The county is home to rich forests, clean water, and diverse wildlife — resources that sustain both our people and our environment.
Now, proposals to construct large-scale industrial data centers in this area put those values at risk. Data centers are not simple office buildings; they are massive industrial operations that consume enormous amounts of water and electricity, generate constant noise, and require heavy infrastructure such as substations, cooling systems, high-capacity power lines, and increased traffic.
If built in Jones County, these facilities could:
-Threaten our aquifers by drawing millions of gallons of water, as well as, pollute our watersheds and streams.
-Disrupt local wildlife habitats, including sensitive wetland and riparian ecosystems.
-Bring industrial noise, traffic, and light pollution to areas zoned and valued for agriculture and conservation.
-Set a dangerous precedent for future industrial development in rural and residential zones.
-Increase taxes and decrease property values.
We, the residents of Jones County and concerned citizens, believe that industrial data centers are incompatible with the rural, agricultural, and environmental character of this region.
We respectfully urge the Jones County Planning & Zoning Board and the Jones County Board of Commissioners to:
-Reject any rezoning requests that would allow data center construction in Jones County.
-Protect local water resources, forestland, and agriculture by upholding land-use policies that preserve rural environments.
-Engage the public openly before considering any similar industrial proposals in the future.
Our land, our water, and our peace of life are worth more than short-term industrial gain. Let’s protect Jones County and keep our resources clean, and thriving for generations to come.
Please sign this petition to protect our land, support our community , and preserve the rural character of Jones County for future generations.
