Stop Cyberstalking, Harassment, and Bullying- Virtual Restraining Order

The Issue

The internet started out as a virtual reality, a virtual world. But in today's society there is a thin line between the virtual world and the real world. Meaning things that start online are starting to appear in reality. A lot of people believe that they can do things online and get away with it. They believe that they can harass, stalk, and bully people online without any consequences. If someone stalks, harasses, or bullies you in real life, you have options. You have the option to get a restraining order or to press charges. Some real life crimes have originated from  internet stalking, bullying, and harassment. I propose that social media sites allow victims to file formal complaints that are sent to the authorities and can be upheld in court. I also propose that social media sites follow the lead of sites such as Bandcamp. Bandcamp only allows you to listen to a song three times before it won't play anymore. It will suggest that you purchase it. Social media can use the same approach. Meaning if someone comes to your page an obsessive amount of times- they have to  subscribe/follow or they are automatically blocked and put on a watchlist. If a person decides to be a cyberbully- a formal report can be submitted, they become blocked, and if the behavior continues they are removed from the social media platform. This should be an optional feature because some people may want the traffic to their page. This will all be linked to that persons IP address.
