Stop Cyber Bullying, Body Shaming, and Stalking on TikTok

The Issue

My name is Kimberly Peters and I am a victim of relentless cyber bullying, body shaming, stalking and unauthorized screen recording on the popular social media platform TikTok. Every day I face an onslaught of threats, mockery for my disabilities and severe harassment from users who encourage others to join in this cruel behavior. This has to stop!

Cyberbullying is not just a personal issue; it's a global problem that affects millions. According to the Cyberbullying Research Center, about 37% of young people between the ages of 12-17 have been bullied online (Hinduja & Patchin, 2020). Body shaming too is rampant with around 94% of teenage girls and 64% teenage boys having experienced it (Common Sense Media, 2019). Furthermore, stalking behaviors are increasingly moving online with devastating consequences.

TikTok as a platform needs to take stronger measures against such harmful activities. We demand stricter enforcement policies against cyber bullying and body shaming. We also call for better privacy settings to prevent stalking and unauthorized screen recording.

Let's make the internet safer for everyone by standing up against these harmful practices! Your signature can help bring about this much-needed change. Please sign this petition today!
