For far too long, Child Protection Services (CPS) and associated departments in Maine (DHHS, OCFS, and DCF) have been accused of misrepresentation, violation of family rights, and in alarming cases, the illegal removal of children from their homes. There are numerous allegations that these instances are not isolated, but rather indicative of a systemic issue. Concerned citizens are stepping up to challenge these injustices. We believe that children are best served when they are with their families. Unfortunately, claims have emerged that some children are unjustifiably taken from their homes, leaving them in an unfamiliar and potentially harmful environment. It is essential that these departments operate with transparency and integrity, and are held accountable for their actions.
