Stop Construction of a Burn Tower in a Residential Neighborhood

The Issue

The proposed plan to build an industrial style burn tower near a residential area and park is causing great concern among the adjacent community. We urge the city council to deny this plan for several reasons.

Firstly, the air quality in the area will be impacted by the smoke and fumes from burning materials and engines. This potentially poses a serious health risk to residents, especially those with respiratory issues.

Secondly, noise pollution from regular training exercises will disrupt the peace and quiet of our neighborhood.  Keyser park is a playground, community garden, dog park, and recreational area. The proposed facility also sits across the street from Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  We want to maintain the peaceful and serene environment that currently exists.

Thirdly, property values in our area are likely to decrease due to this facility being built nearby. Potential buyers may be deterred by the noise pollution and air quality concerns.

Lastly, traffic safety is another major concern as large fire trucks entering and exiting the facility could pose a danger to pedestrians and cyclists using nearby roads.

We believe that there are alternative locations for this type of facility that would not negatively impact local residents or their environment. Therefore, we ask that you deny this proposal in order to protect our community's health, well-being, property values and peace of mind.
