Stop Companies Like Wowcher from Keeping Customers’ Money Through Unclear Voucher and Refu
The Issue
I started this petition after losing £119 to Wowcher for a product I never received. Their system took my payment before checkout was complete, and when I tried to get help, I found their support channels blocked or unresponsive.
✊ Let’s make this right.
No company should be allowed to profit from confusion, inaccessibility, or customer vulnerability.
It’s time for stronger protections — and for Wowcher to be held accountable.

Despite explaining my dyslexia and difficulty with online systems, I was denied a refund and offered only half the amount in store credit — for a company I no longer wish to use. I know I’m not alone in this. Many others have faced similar experiences and been left feeling frustrated, powerless, and unheard.
I’m calling on the UK Government, Trading Standards, and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to take action against unfair voucher-based sales and refund practices by companies like Wowcher, which are leaving consumers — including vulnerable and disabled people — out of pocket.
Thousands of UK customers have reported losing money through Wowcher’s confusing redemption system and restrictive refund policies. Payments are often taken before checkout is complete, and customers then discover they must “redeem” a separate voucher within a short time period — something that’s not clearly explained at the time of purchase.
If a customer doesn’t complete this extra step, Wowcher claims the voucher has “expired” — and refuses refunds, even though no product or service has been provided. Many customers are offered only partial “store credit,” forcing them to keep spending on a platform they no longer trust.
To make matters worse, Wowcher’s customer service is frequently uncontactable — their mailboxes reject messages, their phone lines are automated, and their “live chat” offers no way to escalate issues. This creates a closed system where customers simply lose their money.
This situation is even harder for vulnerable customers (such as those with dyslexia, learning difficulties, or accessibility needs) who struggle to navigate these unclear and inaccessible processes.
⚖️ We are calling for:
An immediate investigation into Wowcher’s business and refund practices by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Trading Standards.
Mandatory clear refund and redemption information at the point of sale — so payments cannot be taken before a service is secured.
Automatic refunds where no product or service has been provided.
Protection for vulnerable consumers under the Equality Act 2010, requiring companies to make reasonable adjustments for accessibility needs.
A ban on “voucher expiry” losses when no goods or services have been received.
