Stop companies from using permethrin in flea treatments
The Issue
I almost lost my kitten to a topical flea treatment that was supposed to keep her safe from pests. What we didn't know was that it contained permethrin, a chemical that's proven to be toxic to cats, and it's slowly taking the lives of countless innocent animals. No warnings were provided, and like many others, I was unaware of the danger lurking in these products.
Permethrin is commonly used in many flea and tick treatments for pets, yet it's especially harmful to cats and some dogs. Reports and studies, including those by the National Pesticide Information Center, have shown that permethrin can lead to serious neurological effects and even death in our furry companions. Despite its dangers, flea treatments containing permethrin are still widely available on store shelves without adequate warnings.
The lack of awareness and regulation around permethrin is putting our pets at risk. It's time for change. We call on pet product companies and retailers to immediately cease the use of permethrin in all topical flea treatments. Additionally, manufacturers must provide clear and visible warnings about any potentially harmful ingredients in their pet care products.
By creating safer alternatives and ensuring consumers are fully informed, we can protect our beloved pets from unnecessary harm. Our companions trust us to make the right choices for their health and well-being; we must not let them down.
Please sign this petition to urge the industry to take responsible action and put an end to the use of permethrin in animal products. Together, we can save lives and ensure that our pets remain safe and healthy in our care.
