The beautiful town of Bennington, NY is under threat from the proposed development of a commercial solar farm. These developments can have significant impacts on our local environment and wildlife.  Large-scale solar plants can lead to habitat loss and fragmentation for wildlife. Furthermore, these projects often require vast amounts of land, potentially leading to deforestation and soil erosion. The proposed project sits by a tributary that connects to the Akron Reservoir which supples drinking water to the village of Akron, NY.  While we understand there is a boom for renewable energy in our state, it's crucial that this does not come at the expense of our local environment and community character.

We urge our local town coucilmen to vote NO on the $2.5 million dollar solar plant project being proposed.  . Please sign this petition if you believe in protecting Bennington's natural beauty and keeping it undeveloped.  Keep our town rural and say NO to commercial solar.
