Stop Collective Punishment At School-Treat Each Student Like Individuals

Stop Collective Punishment At School-Treat Each Student Like Individuals
The Issue
Teacher: Okay class, it’s recess time, but because one person misbehaved, Tommy, I’m going to punish all of you by making you guys stay inside for five more minutes to work on math.
Class: WWWAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!
We’ve all probably been in that situation. Teachers punishing the whole class/group because one or two people misbehave. Not only is that very, very unfair, it just proves how lazy teachers can be and how little they care when dealing with certain things. This actual phenomena is known as “Collective Punishment”. The following is word for word from a Wikipedia article.
Collective punishment is a form of retaliation whereby a suspected perpetrator's family members, friends, acquaintances, sect, neighbors or entire ethnic group is targeted. The punished group may often have no direct association with the other individuals or groups, or direct control over their actions. In times of war and armed conflict, collective punishment has resulted in atrocities, and is a violation of the laws of war and the Geneva Conventions.[1]Historically, occupying powers have used collective punishment to retaliate against and deter attacks on their forces by Resistance movements (such as destroying entire towns and villages which were believed to have harboured or aided such resistance movements).
So just punishing too many people for a single crime. Think of that word. Crime. What else comes to mind. War crime? A war crime is just a crime committed during war that goes against internationally accepted rules of war. Guess what? About halfway down that article, you come across this fact. Under the 1949 Geneva Conventions, collective punishment is a war crime. A FREAKING WAR CRIME!!!!! Now, just to be 100% clear, this doesn’t actually include schools, BUT TEACHERS SHOULDN’T BE COMMITTING WAR CRIMES ANYWAY!!
Wow. Just wow. Teachers have been committing war crimes. Not that there is an actual war happening, but there’s a constant conflict between students and teachers. Now, if you don’t participate at all, or just don’t care, you should still sign and share, because other people are.
I know this petition doesn’t make sense, because the law on this doesn’t apply to teachers, and there’s not an actual war going on. However, if you search “Examples of war crimes”, many examples pop up. Those include killing civilians and prisoners, torture, rape, destruction of civilian property, and using child soldiers. Who does that outside of war? It’s so bad it’s illegal in war, but teachers just casually throw it into the mix with everything else at school. Super unfair. Definitely totally should be illegal.
Anyway. This petition is here to bring attention to that problem, and to fix it. I don’t actually know who can, so that’s why it’s to everybody. Let me know if you do know who can help. To that person or those people, just make it illegal or something and make sure any teacher that does it gets fired, okay? (This applies to college professor guys and everyone else that would do something like this. Probably not private teachers, though.) We can stop it. If we’re not in it, we’re watching someone that is. Collective punishment is a war crime, but not even illegal in schools. And it should be. So you can help out by signing this petition. Also, share it with anyone who you think would be interested, and everyone else you know.
Thanks
