Why this petition matters

Clovis Highschool in Clovis New Mexico is having an intense vaping issue, thus making the school take action to resolve the problem. They took action by getting bathroom vape-detecting devices in which are in place actively, they are experiencing problems with staffing and security making it hard to monitor these devices. This is the start of the problem students are facing currently at Clovis high school. The school has taken the extra step of locking the bathrooms during the day their proposal was 5 minutes in class and 5 minutes out students cannot access the restrooms; also during passing period buildings  D and F are the only bathrooms allowed access (if you are a student you understand these buildings are spaced out.).They have not followed threw with this not only do they ''forget'' to unlock the doors. they have locked the access to A buildings bathroom from the hallways door access to the classrooms, this making tardies for students skyrocket. Another major problem is the staff staying in the restrooms and complaints about them being a little too involved from peeking in the stalls to bending down to see the bottoms of stalls making bathroom occupants very uncomfortable, the constant knocks on the restroom stalls are very disturbing and unwanted by the students attending Clovis high school. We are no longer preschool students and should be allowed bathroom access and bathroom privacy.-Arianna Flanagan

update: I took it into my hands to call the school. was told that they would open bathrooms. No later than 3 min later i got a call saying that Mr.Fredricks said that staff is not to open the doors to any bathrooms. I said okay and I called the municipal schools office. spoke to 2 diffrent superententandants and was told that i could use a bathroom in another building. told her i should not have to walk across campus to use a restroom and that they were locked anyway. they basically did nothing and we had 3 girls having emergencies denied bathroom use. - cayley w
