Stop closing unsolved homicide cases

Stop closing unsolved homicide cases

The Issue

A pregnant woman was found buried in the Umatilla Oregon forest in 1978. She was estimated to have been buried for 2-5 years due to the level of decomposition. She was determined to be in her early 20’s. She was Caucasian and had light brown or blonde hair. She was around 5’3-5’4. She was pregnant although no measurements of the fetus exist, they estimated 6-8 months gestation. She was wearing red, knit pants and a white blouse.
In 1990, Oregon still had no identification on this pregnant Jane Doe so they closed the case and destroyed the evidence.
I believe this woman was my mother, Patricia Otto who not only matched the physical description but the clothing! My mother was reported missing in Idaho in 1976, last known to be wearing red pants and a white blouse. She was 5’3, blonde but not known to be pregnant. She was never seen again after an argument with my father, Ralph Otto.
