Stop China taking advantage of our postal system to undercut American businesses

The Issue

Chinese sellers are taking advantage of our postal service to take over online e-commerce sales. On Amazon, EBay, Alibaba, and other sites Chinese sellers are undercutting American sellers by charging much less for their items.  They are able to do this because their shipping fees are only a fraction of American shipping fees.

Shipping fees are a major expense when selling online.  The cheapest American shipping for a parcel is USPS first class which costs minimum 5.25$ per package (when shipped yourself and a but less if shipped in bulk through eBay or Amazon) and can cost much more depending on the size wait and shipping method.

However Chinese sellers can ship for just a few cents and not only that their packages are tracked which is required by most online e-commerce sites.

A product that American sellers usually sell for 7-10$ Chinese sellers are selling for .50-2.50$.  Now if an American wants to sell a product for 2$ he must charge minims 7.50$ to cover his shipping costs.
However the Chinese sellers can sell the same product for 2.50$ by taking advantage of dirt cheap shipping prices that are only available to Chinese sellers.

Now the worst part is that of a Chinese shippers ships an item to America they need to pay an American service, usually USPS to deliver it in America.
so why is USPS charging Chinese shippers only a fraction of what they charge American shippers?

USPS made a deal with China and created a service called the e-packet. This is a service only available to Chinese sellers.  It allows them to ship products up to 4.4 pounds from China to America for a dirt cheap price, and it’s tracked.
Why is this service only available to Chinese shippers?

It gives them an unfair advantage.  And worst of all it’s not reciprocated.
Chinese businesses and sellers can flood the American market with cheap products stealing sales from American businesses and taking taxes from our government that would be collected in income tax on the profit and salaries of American businesses.
However American sellers do not receive any advantage when selling to China.  Actually the opposite we are at a huge disadvantage.  Something that a Chinese seller could ship to America for 5$ would cost us 50$ to ship to China.
That’s completely unfair and moronic.
it affects Americans our business and makes our government lose tax revenue. Plus our post office loses money they could be making by giving such cheap rates to the Chinese. And the post office always says they are struggling with debt. Well maybe instead of charging Americans so much to ship and constantly raising our shipping rates charge the Chinese shippers more.

The e-packet is only one of the methods that Chinese businesses take advantage of our postal system. There are also other shipping methods they use through USPS that are extremely cheap. Much cheaper than any rates Americans can get. Furthermore the Chinese government subsidizes the Chinese postal services to keep their shipping rates low so that they can flood international markets with Chinese goods and have a trade imbalance favoring exports.

So please sign this petition for American politicians to protest what’s going on. To look into this shipping issue and to reavaluate the rates we are giving to Chinese shippers and to petition to stop the e-packet and raise Chinese shipping rates.  That or offer at the very least offer Americans the same rates so we can at least compete. Not only the same rates shipping I’m America, but make a deal so we can compete selling products in China.  That can be a huge profitable market.
We demand that whatever rate a Chinese seller can ship to America for, we be able to ship to China for the same price. And vice versa.  If we are paying high rates to ship to China then they should need to pay high rates to ship to America.
This is the only way to maintain a fair and free market.

Sign this to save American businesses, save the government tax money, and save our post office from debt.

If we don’t address this issue the future for American businesses is very dark.  It’s a future where China dominates  all the worlds production and sell all the products directly to the consumer not allowing American e-commerce sellers to have any part in the profits and other benefits that go along with selling online.
We are already being slowly cut out and underpriced by the huge amount of Chinese sellers online and their cheap shipping rates.
