January 24 2023 Update
Good News is starting to trickle out on the proposed Closure area in the Chipmunk recreation area, specifically regarding the blanket area that the Cascade Skyline Gondola Project wants to create a Controlled Recreation Area (CRA).
**CORRECTION Feb 1 2023. “This project is not a CRA but rather an application for a non-exclusive use Commercial Recreation Tenure under the Adventure Tourism Policy" This does not change the fact the proponants application requests closure to Motorized ORV use on the Thurston Loop and many trials
Seemed as if all user groups at the table from motorized to equine and bipeds are opposed to the projects License of Occupation application and gate locations.
RSTBC is also concerned about the broad sweep of restrictions.
***NO decision on the project is imminent from the Government.**
So it is important that we make sure that all the decision-makers on this project hear and respond to our concerns. Lets not just lay down and roll over and let the Cascade Skyline Gondola Project close an important public motorized recreation area without honest consultation with all of the stakeholder's involved.
This Thursday, January 26th 2023 our Provincial Off-Road Motorized Recreation Representatives will be meeting again with the Cascade Skyline Gondola Project. We are hoping that with your support that there should be some positive news to report soon.
