STOP Chilliwack Off Road Motorized Trail Closure Proposal For Thurston Loop

STOP Chilliwack Off Road Motorized Trail Closure Proposal For Thurston Loop
The Issue
For all motorized users of the Chilliwack River Valley Trails. Including the following
- 4x4s
- Dirt Bikes
- SxSs
- Adventure Riders
- Dual Sport Motorcycles
- ATVs
- Snowmobiles
- Outdoor Recreationalists of all types
There is a proposal by the Cascade Skyline Gondola Project to close a large area to Off Road Vehicle Use for a private for profit company. The area for the proposed closure is some 30 square Kms between Mt Thurston and Cheam Peak. This will include the upper sections of Chipmunk FSR, Thurston FSR and Bridle Falls FSR for the development of a gondola and related services.
This proposal will permanently close a decades old motorized recreational loop, often referred to as the Thurston Loop by local motorized users including 4x4s down to dirt bikes. This will also close many dirt bike trails above the Chipmunk Creek area that have been maintained buy the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club for over four decades.
We are late to the table but it is never too late to tell government that you are not happy with the proposal as presented.
Lets tell our government that we the motorized off road users would like them to negotiate fairly with our representatives (British Columbia Off Road Motorcycle Association, 4x4 Association of British Columbia, Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club, Dual Sport BC, BC Snowmobile Federation and All Terrain Vehicle British Columbia) to develop a workable plan for this development.
Time is short and our provincial associations could use a show of our support
