Stop charging for Snapchat

Stop charging for Snapchat

The Issue

For years, Snapchat has been a part of my daily life. It's more than just a social media app—it's a time capsule of cherished conversations and memories that I hold dear. I, like many others, have used Snapchat to capture moments with friends who are no longer with us. These memories are invaluable, and the thought of losing access to them due to a subscription model is worrying.

Snapchat has always empowered its users with the freedom to share moments instantaneously and without financial barriers. Introducing a charge for what has been, up until now, a free service would hinder many loyal users from accessing a platform they have come to rely on and cherish. A subscription fee might seem like a minor change to the company, but to millions of users like me, it represents potential loss of connection to special memories and people.

Statistically, a large portion of Snapchat's user base is made up of young people and college students, many of whom might find it difficult to afford an ongoing charge. This decision could potentially alienate these core users, causing a decline in engagement and popularity of the app.

Moreover, Snapchat's business model has thrived on its strong community of active users who bring life to the platform. Charging for basic access could discourage this vibrant community from continuing their engagement, ultimately affecting the platform's vitality and growth.

We respectfully urge Snapchat to reconsider any plans to impose a charge on its users. We love the app in its current form and want to continue using it without financial hindrance. Let's keep Snapchat accessible to all and ensure that everyone has the chance to continue creating, sharing, and preserving their memories for free.

Please sign this petition to let Snapchat know that keeping the app free is important to its community. Your support can make a difference.
