1 in 4 dogs are still being euthanized at IACS

I just reviewed the year end 2023 IACS (our city shelter) statistics and they are heartbreaking. You can see them here: https://rb.gy/bjhxhq In 2023, IACS took in 5,326 dogs and euthanized 1,398. As in 2022, 1 in 4 dogs at IACS are being killed at IACS. The canine overpopulation situation right now is critical. Local rescues are also overwhelmed by dogs in need so they are unable to take in many dogs. We have a petition calling for the Indianapolis City-County Council to increase funding for low income spay/neuter services, require licensure of pit bull breeders with mandatory microchipping and fund increased enforce existing laws to effectively deter animal cruelty, dog fighting and other animal related crimes.
