Calderdale Council have announced they are withdrawing gritting many roads in Calderdale from 1st December 2024. 

In modern times services should not be allowed to go backwards. 

The cost savings are very short sighted if you look at the bigger impact on society. If it snows:

1) Children and teachers won’t be able to go to school.

2) People won’t be able to go to work, this impacts take home pay and the economy in general.

3) Accidents will happen - car crashes or slips on icy roads if trying to walk.

4) People will die if an ambulance can’t get anywhere near.

5) People will be unable to get vital medical treatment such as chemotherapy.

6) The elderly and those with care needs will miss out on timely care and food delivery.

7) Rubbish won’t be collected.

8) People won’t be able to get to the shops for food or supermarket delivery trucks won’t be able to get to customers.
