Stop Bullying Therians for Self-Expression

Stop Bullying Therians for Self-Expression
The Issue
I'm a Therian, and I'm done with the bullies treating me differently because I want to express myself. It's time for us to take a stand against the discrimination faced by Therians who choose to express their identity through the use of tails, masks, or other forms of personal attire.
Therians, individuals who feel a spiritual or psychological connection to animals, often face ridicule and harassment for expressing who they truly are. Wearing tails, masks, or other accessories is a means of self-expression—no different from the way people might style their hair, wear cultural attire, or choose any other fashion. But when Therians do it, they're subject to bullying and exclusion, which is unjust and harmful.
A study by the University of California found that individuals who are consistently bullied or marginalized for their beliefs or self-expression are three times more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression. Furthermore, a report by the National Mental Health Association indicates that such harassment can lead to social isolation, affecting an individual's mental well-being and quality of life.
Education and awareness are key. Schools, workplaces, and communities need to foster an environment of acceptance and understanding. Implementing anti-bullying campaigns that specifically address and include Therian expressions of identity can make a tremendous difference.
We call on educational institutions, community leaders, and workplaces to adopt inclusive policies that protect Therians from bullying and discrimination. Expressing oneself should be a right, not a reason for ridicule. Please join us in our mission to ensure that everyone, regardless of their self-expression, can live freely and without fear of being bullied.
