STOP BULLYING NOW!: Memory of Aubreigh Wyatt

The Issue

This is a personal call to action, born from firsthand experiences of bullying, punctuated by suicidal thoughts, and a devastating loss of a friend to suicide due to the relentless harassment I suffered.

Aubreigh Wyatt, a victim who could no longer withstand the constant barrage of cruelty, ended her life on September 4th, 2020, after enduring four long years of bullying from a group of girls. Her tragic story, one of many, illustrates a crisis that demands urgent attention.

The destructive impact of bullying is well-documented. According to a study from the National Institutes of Health, victims of bullying are at an increased risk for mental health problems, suicide ideation, and attempts compared to their peers (source: NIH). We've seen the bleak reality of these statistics in our community, manifesting in the loss of young lives, damaged by the crippling power of harmful words and actions.

Our collective voices must rise to safeguard other children and teens who may be silently grappling with the jabs and barbs of bullies every day. It is time to demand that our schools and communities adopt strict anti-bullying policies, they need to do something about the bullying, and ensure proper education about the consequences of bullying.

By signing this petition, you are contributing towards a change, creating safer environments for our vulnerable youth, and ensuring that the tragedy that befell Aubreigh Wyatt doesn't become another stolen life. No one deserves to suffer from bullies. Let us unite to halt bullying now. Please sign this petition.
