We, the undersigned, are concerned parents, guardians, students, and community members of Orchard Academies in LAUSD. We are writing to formally petition for immediate action regarding school's officials' inadequate response to bullying incidents.

Overview of Concerns:

Lack of Investigation: Video Recordings of bullying are being distributed via social media. Numerous reports of bullying are not being adequately investigated. Allegations, even when supported by evidence and witness testimony, frequently go unaddressed. 

Absence of Disciplinary Actions: In cases where evidence is clear and corroborated, disciplinary actions are either minimal or nonexistent. This lack of accountability emboldens bullies and fosters a hostile environment for victims. 

Impact on Students: The current approach to handling bullying is negatively impacting students' mental health, academic performance, and overall well-being. Many students feel unsafe and unsupported, leading to a decline in their educational experience.

Our Demands:

Thorough Investigations: We request that all reports of bullying be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly and promptly, regardless of circumstances surrounding the allegations. In the event there is a conflict of interest, the conflicted personnel will recuse themselves from the investigation process.

Clear Disciplinary Policies: We urge the implementation of clear disciplinary actions for confirmed bullying behavior, ensuring that all students understand the consequences of their actions. The current policies are vague and at the discretion of personnel that are currently providing an inadequate response. 

Regular Reporting: We ask for regular updates from the school regarding bullying incidents and the actions taken, promoting transparency and accountability.

Support Systems: We advocate for the establishment of support systems for victims of bullying as well as required intervention programs for students found to be engaging in bullying.

We believe that every child has the right to attend school in a safe and supportive environment. It is crucial that the administration of Orchard Academies takes the necessary steps to address these issues promptly. We respectfully urge the LAUSD Office of Operations to intervene and ensure that our school implements effective policies and practices to combat bullying.
