Stop bullying in Mabank ISD especially at Mabank Intermediate school
The Issue
Bullying is a very serious issue that affects many students in Mabank ISD, especially at Mabank Intermediate School. It can cause emotional and physical harm to victims and can even lead to long-term mental health problems or worse. We need to take action to stop bullying in our schools!
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 35% of students ages 9-12 years old reported being bullied during the 2022-2023 school year! This means that about 2 out of every five students has experienced bullying. In addition, a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that students who are bullied are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and other mental health problems.
At Mabank Intermediate School, we have seen firsthand how bullying can affect our classmates. Students have reported being called names, excluded from activities, and even physically assaulted by their peers. This behavior is unacceptable and must be stopped.
We call on Mabank ISD administrators and teachers to take an active and even proactive approach to preventing bullying in our schools. This includes implementing anti-bullying policies that clearly define what constitutes bullying behavior and outlining consequences for those who engage in it. This includes taking all cases seriously when parents approach the school staff and administration so that these issues can be handled swiftly and decrease the amount of harm done to our children. We also ask Mabank ISD to actively pursue all bullying cases that have been brought to their attention and to the attention of school staff and administrators.
We ask the staff at Mabank Intermediate to enstill confidence in the parents that by speaking out their issues will be taken seriously, dealt with swiftly and that the bullies will face consequences for their actions.
We also urge parents to take personal responsibility and talk with their children about the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. We urge parents to take an active role in handling any incident that involves their child bullying another child/children and take it seriously.
By working together as a community, we can create a safe learning environment where all students feel valued and supported. Also by working together we can foster an environment where all kids are allowed to be kids and grow up without harassment.
