The Issue

Our children have the right to enjoy a safe and respectful environment when they attend school. Unfortunately, this is not the case at Roosevelt Junior High School. My personal story starts with my daughter. She has been the target of continual bullying and harassment at this school. This troubling issue is not confined to her alone though. The misfortune is widespread and happening on an alarming scale.

According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, nearly 1 in every 5 students report being bullied. This number is staggering and unacceptable. Roosevelt Junior High School mirrors these national statistics, a reality that too many of our children are painfully familiar with.

The psychological and emotional impacts of bullying are profound. Pediatric academics stress the importance of interventions to combat bullying as students who experience bullying are at an increased risk for poor school adjustment, sleep difficulties, anxiety, and depression (American Academy of Pediatrics).

We are calling on the education authority and the school board to put a stop to the bullying and harassment at Roosevelt Junior High immediately. We must protect our children, foster healthy peer relationships, and promote a safe and inclusive school environment. It's time for us to gather our voices and efforts on behalf of our children.

We ask that the school administration, together with parents, students, and community members, implement a comprehensive anti-bullying policy that promotes respect and empathy. The time for change is now.

Please sign this petition and demand a safer environment for our children at Roosevelt Junior High School. Together, we can make a difference.
