I write this petition not just as an activist, but also as a victim of the problem we strive to address. Being a part of the minority in society, I have found myself a target of bullying, a situation many like me endure on a regular basis. It's a bitter reality that needs addressing.

Bullying affects approximately 1 in 5 students in the US (National Center for Education Statistics, 2019). However, the pain is disproportional among minority groups who are statistically more likely to suffer from bullying. The terrible impacts of bullying- mental health issues, lower academic achievement, and elevated risks of self-harm, to name a few- spare no one.

We call for our institutions, community leaders, and every individual to stand against this injustice and foster an environment of understanding, respect, and equality. It's time to proclaim that we will not allow bullying against minorities to persist in our society any longer.
