The Issue

Wentworth Park is a cherished green space in our community, a place where children and adults alike gather to enjoy the beauty of nature and partake in recreational activities. From playing baseball on sunny afternoons, ice skating during the winter, to relaxing with family picnics and enjoying hammock naps beneath the trees, this park has been a sanctuary for all of us.

However, this treasured haven is under threat. Buell Consulting has proposed the construction of a 149' wireless tower within Wentworth Park. This towering structure will not only disrupt the visual landscape but also detract from the park's natural beauty and peaceful ambiance. Imagine a day at the park overshadowed by a massive, intrusive tower—it would fundamentally alter the character and usability of this beloved community spot.

The presence of such a structure could result in decreased property values, discourage park visitors, and adversely impact wildlife that calls the park home. Numerous studies have indicated the potential health risks associated with prolonged exposure to wireless tower radiation, adding further layers of concern for all park-goers, especially our children.

We understand the need for improved telecommunications infrastructure, but the location of such projects should be carefully considered to avoid encroaching on vital community spaces. Alternative sites for the tower that do not compromise community green spaces deserve exploration and prioritization.

We call upon the local government and Buell Consulting to reconsider this proposal and protect Wentworth Park from this encroachment. Let us work together to find a solution that supports technological advancement while preserving our community's recreational heart.

Sign this petition to voice your opposition to the construction of the wireless tower in Wentworth Park and to advocate for its preservation as a place of solace, recreation, and natural beauty for generations to come.
