Living in America during the allergy season is never a good time. You or someone you personally know has an allergy to pollen. It's inevitable! And that is because the cities around America were designed by botanical sexists! And yes, that’s a real thing. A Buzzfeed news article does a great job explaining this newly popularized phenomenon. This article talked about how the city landscape designers around America decided to plant way more male trees than female trees because female trees produce pods, seeds and fruits, which was seen as a “hassle” to clean, whereas male trees produce…. pollen. Not to mention female trees actually can trap the pollen and reduce these allergies. An ABC News article goes on to talk about how botanic sexism is making life worse for the allergy sufferers. Orgen a man who has been researching and debating on behalf of this topic, said that the rise in allergy rates around America directly followed the widespread of planting certain trees that tend to produce high amounts of pollen. He stated: “While only 10 percent of the United States population suffered from allergies 25 years ago, now the rate is 38 percent and rising.” Who would ever be a botanic sexist you may ask? The exact same people who profit off seasonal allergies, the government and big pharma. This situation is perfect for them, the homeless population don’t get free fruit from female trees, and the rest of the population spends their hard-earned money on medication to relieve their allergies. Was this a ploy? We may never know for sure, but what we do know is these needs to be stopped. As the years go on and the global temperature rises, the worse the pollen allergies get. We are running out of time to fix this. Sign this petition to put an end to these botanical sexists.
