STOP BIOSOLIDS APPLICATION IN SOUTH OKANAGAN-SIMILKAMEEN

STOP BIOSOLIDS APPLICATION IN SOUTH OKANAGAN-SIMILKAMEEN
The Issue
Living in the beauty of South Okanagan-Similkameen, BC, our families, along with the diverse wildlife, have always relied on the pure drinking water and lush clean environment. However, our communities have been put at risk due to the application of biosolids in our region. These biosolids, originating from MetroVancouver waste treatment and soil remediation processing plants namely as Annacis Island, Lions Gate, Chilliwack, Agassiz, and Envirogreen Technologies, pose significant environment threats to our health and wellbeing.
Numerous studies conducted throughout North America have shown that biosolids contain PFAS and PFOA, harmful chemicals that introduce toxins and pathogens into our water and the environment. These toxins not only endanger the health of our families but also threaten our historic ranching and agricultural practices as well as the wildlife and species at risk unique to our area. Despite these known dangers, our communities have not been adequately informed about the risks posed by large-scale biosolid application.
It is crucial that the residents of South Okanagan-Similkameen stand together to demand that the Province of British Columbia takes immediate action by prohibiting and revoking all permits issued for the application of biosolids in our communities. By taking a firm stance, we can protect our drinking water from contamination, safeguard domestic and wild animals, and preserve the economic integrity of our region.
Our families deserve safe drinking water and to live and work in a healthy, safe environment. We urgently call upon the authorities to recognize the dire impact of biosolids and to take actionable steps to eliminate this threat. We must act swiftly and decisively to ensure the long-term health and prosperity of South Okanagan-Similkameen.
Please join us in urging local and provincial leaders to protect our land, our water, and our communities. Sign the petition to stop the application of biosolids in our beautiful South Okanagan-Similkameen, BC. Your support is vital for our present and future wellbeing.
