Stop Bellway Homes building two 5 storey blocks of flats/houses in Harold Wood

Stop Bellway Homes building two 5 storey blocks of flats/houses in Harold Wood
The Issue
Bellway Homes are planning to build two large five-story blocks of flats along with more houses/social housing totalling nearly 100 additional homes on the old Long Term Conditions Centre site (next to the Poly Clinic). Beyond the invasion of our privacy, as Nightingale Crescent/Juniper Way/Goldcrest Way/Whitmore Avenue and surrounding properties will be directly over looked by these 5 storey flats built in such close proximity, the construction will place unbearable strain on our local infrastructure, including our hospital, schools, roads and doctors who are already under resourced.
The only access to these new homes will be via a multi-used road being Copse Avenue (Poly Clinic road) raising safety and accessibility concerns, especially for pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users. The existing traffic congestion on Copse Avenue/St Clements Avenue and Gubbins Lane will be exacerbated due to heavy and constant construction traffic.
Moreover, we believe the excessive scale of these plans contradicts the character of our neighbourhood, and flats being built so high, dismisses residents' rights.
With already high demand, doctors in Harold Wood, Romford have a higher doctor-to-patient ratio than the national average [source: NHS Digital]. Yet, this proposed development will add to the current patient load, not considering the strains posed towards schools and hospitals, and waiting lists which already carry heavy burdens.
Whilst we are not against building new homes, they should be built sympathetically by balancing new homes with the privacy and quality of life of current residents is crucial. In our opinion, Bellway Homes have not incorporated design features to respect people’s privacy, instead planning to build in close proximity tall flats directly facing into peoples’ homes and overlooking their gardens having a detrimental affect to the surrounding community.
As residents of Harold Wood, who will be significantly impacted by these changes, we implore you to take action. Let's work together to ensure that any future developments in our beloved town are responsibly considered and carried out.
Maintain the privacy, safety and tranquility of our community by rejecting these excessive construction plans. How much more building development can Harold Wood honestly withstand?
Please, support your neighbours’ of Harold Wood by signing this petition and join us in our effort to protect our community. Thank you.
