Transgender and Nonbinary youth are now being prevented from accessing gender affirming care in Tennessee according to SB001. This means that they aren’t allowed to access hormones, surgeries, etc which are potentially lifesaving treatments for people. This also means everyone will be forced to be identified as their biological sex, potentially discriminating against intersex people too. 

If this doesn’t get changed, I believe the suicide rate will rise exponentially in Trans and Nonbinary youth. We are talking about countless lives being taken away from innocent children and teens. 

As a transgender person in the U.S.A, I’m alarmed and terrified about all of these laws, I have been frantic. Messaging senators,  representatives, the governors, you name it! I am scared. I am sad. But I’m also angry. And with that anger, I will fight as hard I can as a private citizen, because I refuse to be illegal. I refuse to be oppressed! To the LGBTQ community and it’s supporters/respecters, we need to rise up! Even if we have the smallest chance of change, it’s still a chance. Keep writing letters and texting officials. Keep sending emails and calling them every chance you get. Because I can’t do this on my own, and no one else can either. Make your own petitions, start rallies, march in protest. But we will never assault another person. A peaceful protest is like a slap to the face to them. It’s better than violence, because they can’t use the protest against us. 

We need to act now! All treatments are required to discontinue by March 31, 2024. If we don’t act, who knows what will happen next.
