Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims observe fasting during daylight hours and spend most of their time in worship, feeding the poor and other spiritual activities.Just like other Muslims around the globe the people of Palestine were doing the same. 

Palestinian pilgrims were praying in the mosque when they were attacked by the Israeli army. They were beaten, fired at and tortured as they prayed. The attack was unprovoked and included women and children. This is not an isolated incident and the mosque has had similar attacks in the past.

This is shocking as this site is not only holy for the Muslims but also for the Jewish pilgrims who visit the site. It’s unbelievable and shameful that you would treat such a site with disrespect and abuse. I am sure the Jewish community would stand against such violence as there religion is one of peace.

This is no different to the Russian regime terrorising the people of Ukraine in the current war which is internationally condemned. Sanctions are imposed on the perpetrators.

No doubt this is a violation of international and human rights laws, as well as the rights of the Palestinian people. We need to stand up against these terrorist acts and stop such violence. People have the right to engage in worship and observe religious practices without fear of violence, abuse, torture and humiliation. We need to protect human liberties and freedoms so we can all reside in a peaceful society.
