The cruelty of unnecessary animal testing deeply affects me and countless others. So many innocent animals are losing their lives every single year, and what distresses me the most is the fact that this can be prevented. We live in a technologically advanced world that presents us with numerous alternatives to animal testing, yet many brands continue these inhumane practices.

Take the United States, for instance. According to the Humane Society of the United States, more than 100 million animals are subjected to testing on an annual basis. Those include rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, cats, and mice. All of them living, breathing creatures subjected to harmful substances and procedures with severe, often fatal results.

Our current science and technology have given us several alternatives to animal testing. We now have available techniques such as in vitro (test tube) test methods and models based on human cell and tissue cultures, computerized patient-drug databases, and virtual drug trials.

It is high time we put an end to this cruel practice. Let us take a stand for the voiceless. Sign the petition and demand an end to animal testing once and for all.
