I am a resident of Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines. Everyday, I see stray cats and dogs wandering our streets with wounds and bruises. They are often abused by some people and they don't have shelter or food to eat. This breaks my heart.

Animal abuse is a serious issue that needs immediate attention. It's not only cruel but also illegal under the Philippine Animal Welfare Act of 1998 (Republic Act No. 8485). Yet many stray animals continue to suffer on our streets.

In addition to this, there is an estimated number of 11 million stray animals in the Philippines according to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). Many of these strays are in Cabuyao, Laguna where we lack sufficient animal shelters.

This petition aims to urge our local government officials in Cabuyao, Laguna to take action against animal abuse by enforcing stricter penalties for offenders as mandated by law. We also call for the establishment of more animal shelters where these strays can be given proper care including food, medical attention and love they deserve.
