Stop and Oppose Proposed Landfill (DUMP) just south of Keys Gate Communities
The Issue
Dear Miami-Dade Commissioners,
There is a proposed Landfill site that boarders one of the largest communities in South Miami-Dade, The Keys Gate Community, in Homestead, FL.

The proposed use application for this site is NOT ACCEPTABLE for the residents of the Cities of Homestead, Florida City and the South Dade Community for the following reasons:
- Proximity to long established communities
- Public and Environmental Health
- Future golf course (entertainment) development
- Environmental wetlands that are unique to the South Florida ecosystem.
- Safety and Security of South Florida and the United States of America by impacting the flight path of the Homestead Air Reserve Base.
When this application is submitted for your review, we the residents of Homestead and South Miami Dade request that you vote NO, in support of your constituents in the South Miami Dade Community, The Homestead Air Reserve Base, the City of Homestead and Florida City Residents. This application has the potential to be both an environmental and economic disaster that would severely affect the quality of life, health, property values and raises serious environmental concerns.
We thank you in advance for your support in voting NO on this application when it comes before you for review.
Additionally, the county needs to investigate other long-term options by promoting a study to investigate areas that are more suitable for this type of application. This study should provide for the protection protocols that are required and are currently utilized by many waste management organizations worldwide, to ensure there is no impact to the surrounding environment such as ground water intrusion or increased methane gas fumes that are typically encountered with these facilities.
Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly.
