A commercial shellfishing installation jeopardizes the serene lifestyle and the natural beauty of our coastal environment.  According to a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, coastal developments require careful assessment and regulation to ensure minimal impact on existing ecosystems and communities.

It's crucial that development in our town aligns with our community's values and preserves the environmental integrity that makes Portsmouth a desirable place to live and visit. We believe that alternative locations for oyster farming, which do not encroach upon residential neighborhoods and recreational areas, should be considered.
