The Issue

Land developers are currently planning to construct a 34-unit subdivision off Lyman Lake Road in Lyman, South Carolina. As a small community, this road is not equipped to handle the significant increase in traffic that this development will inevitably bring. Lyman Lake Road is a narrow, single-lane road that has served our community well, but the plans for Artisan Estates threaten to overwhelm its capacity, bringing potential chaos and danger to our otherwise peaceful community.

The safety of our children is of utmost concern. This road, long a safe place for children to play and for neighbors to gather, will transform into a busy thoroughfare, endangering those who use it daily. I am deeply worried that neither the developers nor the county have fully assessed the impact of this development on our community's day-to-day life and safety.

Spartanburg County has yet to disclose any plans to improve Lyman Lake Road to accommodate this increased traffic. This glaring oversight means that the needs and safety of the current residents are being neglected in favor of hasty development.

We are not against progress, but the well-being and safety of our community should not be compromised for profit. It is essential that Spartanburg County conduct a comprehensive review of the potential impacts of this development, considering all aspects including road capacity, safety, and community well-being, before allowing construction to proceed.

Please join me in urging Spartanburg County officials to halt any construction activities related to Artisan Estates until a full evaluation is conducted, and appropriate improvements are planned. Let us work together to ensure our community remains safe and sustainable. Sign this petition to stand up for our road, our children, and our community's future.
