Stop Advertising Materials from Being Thrown into Residential Driveways

The Issue

In our neighborhood, advertising materials, including Save mailers, are frequently tossed onto driveways, sidewalks, and roadways. These loose materials quickly become litter, create safety concerns, and are often washed into storm drains, contributing to blockages and localized flooding.

Many residents have attempted to opt out of receiving these materials, yet continue to receive them due to delayed or ineffective unsubscribe processes. This creates unnecessary frustration and repeated follow-up for residents.

Currently, there are limited standards and enforcement mechanisms to ensure responsible delivery practices.

We respectfully ask City and County officials to strengthen oversight by:

  • Prohibiting the throwing or scattering of advertising materials onto driveways, sidewalks, and streets
  • Requiring materials to be placed securely at residences or delivered through approved methods
  • Establishing clear accountability standards for distributors and advertisers
  • Enforcing penalties for repeated or egregious violations
  • Implementing a reliable, timely, and enforceable opt-out system that honors resident preferences

Our goal is not to eliminate advertising, but to ensure it is delivered in a responsible, respectful, and environmentally conscious manner.

By improving delivery standards, we can reduce litter, protect storm drains, and maintain safer, cleaner streets and public spaces for everyone.

Sign and share to support practical solutions for a cleaner, more respectful community.
