Thank you if you have signed on - or rounded up others - for the full-page newspaper ad. We are getting groups of names now which speeds things up considerably thank you.
Simply a name/s will suffice, sent to SaveFestivalPlaza@gmail.com thank you.
If you have not sent in your name, could we urge you to do so, and please gather up as many names as you can from colleagues and family. We could do with another 250 or so names, and need to place the ad next week, if at all possible.
We have a through strategy which will be discussed soon and this letter is a substantial part of that.
Under strong suggestion, we have further reformulated the final wording as below. If you have already signed please get back to us with any issues.
An Open Letter to the Premier of South Australia
In 1894, the SA Parliament became the first in the world to legislate for all its female citizens to be granted the right to vote and stand for office: and so, became the first also to achieve votes for all, regardless of gender or race.
The proposed 38-storey commercial tower on Festival Plaza would tower over and overshadow Parliament and block its view from the Adelaide Park Lands.
We, the undersigned, call on Premier Malinauskas and the South Australian Government to:
KEEP Festival Plaza as public land, in public hands.
RELOCATE the 38-storey private tower to a more appropriate location in the CBD.
TRANSFORM the plaza into a dynamic cultural precinct.
Again, thank you,
Robert
