Thank you again for your support.
We have a workable number of signatures for the full-page open letter and an amazing bought image, above, of the north face of our parliament to go with it, exactly the view that is threatened!
It will be submitted for pre-press tomorrow for publication next Tuesday, all things being equal. We will confirm prior to the date.
And again, below is the text that will be submitted.
An Open Letter to the Premier of South Australia
In 1894, the SA Parliament became the first in the world to legislate for all its female citizens to be granted the right to vote and stand for office: and so, became the first also to achieve votes for all, regardless of gender or race.
The proposed 38-storey commercial tower on Festival Plaza would tower over and overshadow Parliament and block its view from the Adelaide Park Lands.
We, the undersigned, call on Premier Malinauskas and the South Australian Government to:
KEEP Festival Plaza as public land, in public hands.
RELOCATE the 38-storey private tower to a more appropriate location in the CBD.
TRANSFORM the plaza into a dynamic cultural precinct.
Thank you,
Robert
