A big thank you to those who have offered their names, and collected names, and/or made a contribution toward the full page newspaper ad.

Simply send name/s to  SaveFestivalPlaza@gmail.com  That’s all!

It has been an excellent community-building exercise, and we very much appreciate the large number of supportive comments. We are currently at approx. 60% of the number needed to fill a tabloid page, and contributions are progressing quite well.
We need to accelerate the final stages though please. There is huge dissatisfaction in the community about the second tower.

With the three clear and simple propositions, Stop, Protect, Transform, could we please ask whether you could gather some names from associates and family where possible, possibly by phone or SMS, and pass them on.

Simply send name/s to  SaveFestivalPlaza@gmail.com  That’s all!

We have a chance, a very slim one, but a chance nevertheless, to make a difference, especially when the Australian Heritage Council decision is in the balance. Political pressure such as this is essential however.

We now aim to have the ad submitted for pre-press to the Advertiser by next Thursday 14th Aug- for publishing the following week (we are on a mid-week price and they need time to process the ad).

Below is our shortened and sharpened open-letter full-page ad!
Stop, Protect, Transform: An Open Letter to the Premier of South Australia

In 1894, the SA Parliament became the first in the world to legislate for all its female citizens to be granted the right to vote and stand for office: and so, became the first also to achieve votes for all, regardless of gender or race.

The proposed 38-storey commercial tower on Festival Plaza would tower over and overshadow Parliament and block its view from the Adelaide Park Lands.

We, the undersigned, call on Premier Malinauskas and the South Australian Government to:

STOP Walker Corporation’s 38-storey tower - a 3-storey promise broken

PROTECT Festival Plaza as public land, in public hands

TRANSFORM the plaza into a dynamic cultural precinct
Thank you again,

Robert
