My mom went into an Ace Hardware store today located at 2931 N. Bear Canyon Rd in Tucson, AZ and was horrified to discover a display selling live baby frogs titled Froggy's Lair, www.froggyslair.com and these toxic small plastic boxes with lead colored rocks in water. Truly horrifying to see a hardware store selling live animals inhumanely. A call into the manager at that location determined that they were going off of the recommendations made by corporate that the frogs were selling well and that they should carry. They put up the display today. A quick call to Ace Hardware corporate #630-990-6600 yielded this response of which I have a recording by a man named Eduardo:

"Ma'am if I recommend that you jump off a bridge are you going to do it? Ace Hardware makes recommendations to store owners and it is their ultimate decision whether or not to put them into stores. This includes live animals, frogs and baby chicks, and guns. Ace Hardware is not ultimately responsible for the recommendations that they make." Feb 9, 2023 12:26pm.

This is appalling at the highest level. I have since reached out to a supervisor to Eduardo at the corporate office and have not received a call back. Corporations like this must be stopped and held accountable. Boycott Ace Hardware until they stop selling live animals.
