Residents of the Gumdale & Wakerley area have recently had a State Government proposal sprung on them with 45 Housing Commission units to be built at 652 New Cleveland Road by passing Brisbane City Councils Town Planning procedures.

This petition is asking that the state government pauses all SFD approvals. The state government has refused to release plans or any further proposal details and cannot ignore our local planning powers and the voices of local residents. 
The proposed development will significantly impact our already congested neighbourhood. We lack adequate public transport as it is, face existing traffic issues, and have limited/no parking—especially with one of Queensland's largest primary schools directly across the road. The space is simply not suitable for the proposed plans. The state government's secrecy and lack of transparency with residents is not acceptable. It is essential that the state government is not allowed to force projects onto Gumdale that do not meet community expectations or exceed the provisions that we have in place.
