Title: Stop the Proposed Cell Tower in Fountain Green 

Petition to: Local Officials/Telecommunications Company

We, the undersigned, residents of Fountain Green, strongly oppose the construction of the proposed cell tower near 1100 W 100 N. We believe that this project will pose significant impacts that must be addressed before any further development proceeds.

Our concerns are as follows:

Health Effects: Numerous studies have raised concerns about the potential health effects of long-term exposure to radiofrequency (RF) radiation emitted by cell towers, especially for vulnerable populations like children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Until there is definitive proof of safety, we should adopt the precautionary principle and avoid unnecessary exposure to this risk.

Environmental Effects The construction of a cell tower can have adverse effects on the local environment, including the destruction of green spaces, disruption of wildlife habitats, and the potential for harmful chemicals to seep into the soil and water supply. Preserving our natural surroundings is essential for the well-being of our community and future generations.

Property Values: Studies have shown that proximity to cell towers can negatively impact property values. This decrease in home value not only affects individual homeowners but also the overall economic health of our community.

Aesthetics & Community Character: The proposed cell tower is likely to be an eyesore, clashing with the existing character and aesthetic of our community. Its presence could undermine the unique charm and appeal that make Fountain Green a desirable place to live.
We believe that there are alternative solutions that could meet the need for improved telecommunications infrastructure without compromising our community's health, environment, and quality of life. These alternatives should be thoroughly explored before considering the construction of a new cell tower.

Our Demands:

Halt the Approval Process: We call on the Local Government/Planning Commission to immediately halt the approval process for the proposed cell tower until all concerns raised by the community are fully addressed.
Conduct an Independent Review: We demand an independent, comprehensive review of the potential health, environmental, and economic impacts of the proposed cell tower. This review should include input from experts in relevant fields and be made publicly available.

Public Consultation: We request a transparent and inclusive public consultation process where residents can voice their concerns and opinions. Our community deserves to have a say in decisions that directly impact our health, environment, and quality of life.
We stand together as a community in opposition to the proposed cell tower. We believe that our concerns are valid and that they must be taken into account before any decisions are made.
